"Long queues are still seen outside banks and ATMs. The old and the physically challenged are the worst affected. The Chief Minister also urged Modi to allow the cooperative banks to accept deposits of demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes saying it will help the farmers who were facing a severe cash crunch.
Describing Uttarakhand as a border state with limited resources, Rawat urged the Prime Minister to speed up the release of funds assured by the Cabinet Committee on Uttarakhand for reconstruction works in the wake of the 2013 floods, adding that over 300 villages in the disaster-prone areas needed to be relocated.
