According to Congress' membership drive committee's state convenor, Dhirendra Pratap, they would enrol several lakh members into the party's fold.
"The party will add several lakh new members this year and present MLAs and party nominees who lost the last Assembly polls in the state apart from district and block presidents will be assigned the responsibilities to add momentum to the exercise," said Pratap.
The decision was announced by Pratap after a meeting of the panel, attended by pradesh party chief Yashpal Arya and vice president Suryakant Dhasmana.
He claimed that the Haridwar unit of the party added 72,000 members last year which was a record in itself.
A resolution, unanimously passed at the meeting, decided to spread awareness among the people about the achievements of the state government during the past ten months in power, Pratap said.
