Gearing up for 2014 Lok Sabha polls as instructed by Rahul Gandhi, the state unit of Congress today appointed observers for every district asking them to tour their area on a stock taking mission and submit their reports to the state leadership by April 15.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on his recent visit here had asked party functionaries to galvanise the organisation at the grassroots in view of 2014 general elections, the appointment of observers for districts is a step in that direction, PCC administrative general secretary Vijay Saraswat told reporters here.
PCC chief Yashpal Arya has appointed 23 observers for the districts who will tour all the blocks and submit their report by April 1, Saraswat said.
For the first time after his elevation in the party, Rahul Gandhi came here on a day-long visit on March 8 to take stock of party affairs in the state.
Besides meeting senior party leaders and ministers he also met heads of organisational units at the block and district levels.
