Uttarakhand Governor honours national bravery award winner

Sanjay Chopra National Bravery Award winner Sumit Mamgain who fought a leopard to save his cousin's life was honoured by Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul here today.
Sumit, a student of Class IX at the city's Rashtriya Inter College, received a cash reward of Rs 50,000 and a certificate from the Governor in recognition of his act of bravery.
15-year-old Sumit had fought a leopard with a sickle and stones when it attacked his elder cousin Ritesh in 2015 forcing the big cat to run away.
After taking his injured cousin home, he had contacted the 108 ambulance service to take him to a hospital where his wounds gradually healed.
Deputy Chairperson of State Child Welfare council I S Pal and Kusum Rani Naithani were present on the occasion besides Sumit's parents.
