In an attempt to create ideal investment climate for investors, Uttarakhand Government has empowered district magistrates to give clearance to projects worth up to Rs 10 crore.
Speaking to a foreign delegation led by Belgian Ambassador Jan Luykx, Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy said only projects worth over Rs 10 crore are now cleared by a committee headed by him.
Citing Uttarakhand's potential in aromatic medicinal herb plantation, food processing and allied sectors, the Belgian Ambassador expressed willingness on part of his country to invest in these fields.
Ramaswamy said the single window clearance system, law and order, connectivity and manpower available in Uttarakhand make it an ideal destination for investments.
It was decided that Belgium's Trade Counsellor and Uttarakhand's Industry secretary will together form a working group to open up fresh investment avenues in the state.
