Uttarakhand row: AG meets Prez Pranab Mukherjee
Press Trust of India New Delhi Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi met President Pranab Mukherjee here this evening to discuss legal issues pertaining to lifting of the Central rule in Uttarakhand, where Harish Rawat has won the trust vote.
Earlier during the day, Rohatgi told Supreme Court that the Centre will revoke President's rule in the state, imposed over six weeks ago.
Later, the Union Cabinet met briefly and recommended lifting the Centre's rule in the state.
The meeting between Rohatgi and the President lasted for about half an hour, Rashtrapati Bhavan officials said.
The AG had conceded in the apex court that Rawat has proved his majority.
"It is clear from news and other reports that orderly vote did take place and Rawat proved his majority. I have taken instruction from the government... That we will revoke the President's rule," the AG had said.
