V Venkatram to coach Jharkhand Ranji team

Veteran off-spinner and former skipper of undivided Bihar Ranji Trophy team, V Venkatram has been named the coach of Jharkhand team for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy tournament.
A former coach of Jharkhand team, Venkatram was recalled for the job after a decade as he had a stint with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) as coach in 2004-05.
"We have named Venkatram as coach of Jharkhand Ranji team for the forthcoming domestic season," said JSCA Secretary Rajesh Verma adding that former Ranji team skipper Rajiv Kumar will be the under-19 state team coach and Vikash Kumar for under-16 team.
Currently, a 25-member Ranji team probables are undergoing training camp under the tutelage of Venkatram at JSCA International stadium in Ranchi.
The 57-year-old Venkatram has replaced former Indian medium pacer Subrato Banerjee, who has already informed JSCA about his unavailability for the coming season.
He had been the coach of Tripura in the mid 2000 before he moved to National Cricket Academy in 2011,
Jharkhand Ranji team had moved upto semi-final under the guidance of Venkatram, who was a BCCI-accredited Level III coach and had a stint with National Cricket Academy between 2011-13.
Venkatram, who had played for Bihar between 1976 to 1992, had skippered the team for 1981-87 and bagged over 220 wickets in the first class cricket.
