More than 70,000 vacancies in government departments will be filled up on fast track basis, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today.
"More than 70,000 vacancies in government departments will be filled up on fast track basis through a mechanism of holding interviews at district levels by recruiting agencies, so that job-seekers from rural and far-off areas need not travel long distances," Omar said while addressing a public gathering at Mendhar in the Poonch district.
"I have issued direction for introduction of this mechanism as early as possible," he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised on creation of jobs for youth in government and private sectors and said it was the focal point of his government.
"I will take up the issue of organising recruitment rallies by central government agencies including Indian Railways for the youth of far-flung areas to expand the job market for them," Omar said.
Executing agencies of various power and road projects have also been directed to give top priority to the employment of local youth in these projects.
Omar, meanwhile, said that the state government envisages launch of various micro and small hydel power projects in feasible areas on small rivers, brooks and streams in remote areas where locals will be provided jobs.
