13-year-old Zeal Marathe, student of a private school in Karelibag locality here, will receive the President's National Bravery Award for saving lives of three of her school friends who were injured in an accident while they had gone on a picnic.
Zeal's father, Jeetnedra Marathe said that they have received a letter from the president of Indian Council for Child Welfare, Delhi, citing that his daughter has been selected for National Bravery Award 2014.
He said, Zeal, along with 50 other students had gone to a picnic from school in February early this year at a forest reserve in Jambughoda wildlife sanctuary. While returning to Vadodara, their bus met with an accident and skidded off the road.
Zeal, who is learning yoga at city's Ramkrishna Mission Vivekanand Memorial told PTI today that she helped her friends with prompt action and she is happy to save their lives.
"My daughter has set example for other children to help people in situation of an emergency," Marathe said.
