"The inauguration of the flyover would mark the birthday of senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The flyover would provide great relief to the people from the problem of traffic jams," city Mayor Bharat Dangar said.
"The flyover would bring an end to the ordeal of over two years, that the citizens had been facing while commuting through Fatehgunj area in the city, which is an important area that connects city's civil airport Harni and the Vadodara railway station," Dangar said.
The over one-km-long flyover has been built at a cost of Rs 62.98 crore, city Municipal Commissioner H S Patel said.
The beautification work under the flyover would be completed soon. A part of the space under the flyover would be utilised for parking, he said.
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has planned to construct the state's longest flyover in the city, from Genda Circle to Old Padra Road. It would be 3.4 km long, Dangar said.
