Vaishnavi beats Pranjala to clinch girls title

The 17-year-old Vaishnavi encountered quite a strong challenge from her city rival, who is four years younger, before pulling off a 3-6 6-2 6-4 victory at the Cricket Club of India's courts.

In the corresponding boys' final, India's unseeded Garvit Batra - conqueror of top seed Goran Markovic of Serbia in the semi finals - lost to third seeded Chinese Taipei rival Chih-Chun Tang in a three-hour battle. The latter won 6-2 6-7(4) 7-5.
