Vaisho Devi shrine bags Best Managed Religious Destination

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has bagged the Best Managed Religious Destination Award for the third time in four years.
"Recognising various initiatives taken by the shrine board to ease the pilgrimage for lakhs of pilgrims who come to visit the holy cave shrine, the board has been awarded with this year's CNN-AWAAZ award in the Best Managed Religious Destination Award," an official spokesman said.
The Board had received the award in 2011 and 2013, he said, adding, this year the awards were presented by the Chhattisgarh government.
"There were four nominations for the award this year. The Shrine Board was selected based on votes of the Jury and pilgrims," the spokesperson said.

He said the Shine Board had provided various facilities include quality services, accommodation, food, battery operated vehicles, helicopter services, palkis, pithoos and ponies at affordable charges to the pilgrims.
