Ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was brought to Tripura today by the state unit of the BJP.
The ashes were kept in the BJP office and then would be sent to different parts of the state tomorrow for immersion in rivers like Haorah, Gomati, Khowai, Manu and Deo etc., BJP state media in-charge Victor Shome said.
Secretary of Tripura unit of BJP, Pratima Bhowmik brought the urn filled up with ashes - ' asthi kalash' and handed over to the Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb at the Agartala airport, where Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma was also present.
After that, the Asthi Kalash was brought to BJP headquarters through a massive rally.
The party has decided to hold a month-long programme in booth-level to pay tribute to the great leader, adhering to party's central committee' decision.
Vajpayee breathed his last on August 16 this year.
