Vandalism of Mayawati's statue: UP govt not to withdraw case

Uttar Pradesh government today said it had no intentions to withdraw the case against those, who allegedly damaged the statue of former Chief Minister Mayawati.
It is a serious matter and there is no question of withdrawing the case, Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava, who was here to review law and order situation along Director General of Police Devraj Nagar, told PTI.
Srivastava said that on July 26 last year some persons damaged a statue of the former CM at Ambedkar Memorial in Gomti Nagar area.
He said an FIR was lodged and later three persons were also arrested in this connection.
The principal secretary said that process for large scale recruitment in police, PAC and fire department would start from next week.
Meanwhile, Nagar said that policemen were being made aware of the new law to check harassment of women.
