The four universities of the city must play the role of a "torch bearer" and go "shoulder to shoulder" with the district administration to ensure the success of Smart City project, Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh said today.
Speaking at the seventh convocation of Technical University of Kota here, he said: "It is a matter of pride that the Centre has picked Kota under the Smart City project and it is the duty of the citizens to make it a success."
The Governor also suggested to separately constitute a Smart City cell in the universities so that they can "better contribute" to the project.
"Technical University of Kota is capable to play a vital role for seven sectors of Smart City Project that include energy, environment, education, health care, building, transportation, IT and communication," he said.
Citing a news story of an education institute where 17 out 23 students had failed, the governor on the occasion slammed the teachers and asked them to "drown themselves."
"Those teachers who cannot impart better education to students should drown themselves."
"It is a matter of pride to be a teacher," the Governor said, adding that he himself had once been a teacher.
Addressing the students in the convocation, he said they are the future of the country and called upon the youth to go through the biographies of great personalities to overcome the obstacles in their lives.
