"The Congress strongly condemns the act of saffron workers. It is a blot on the age-old teacher-pupil relationship," Madhya Pradesh Congress chief spokesperson K K Mishra told reporters here today.
Mishra said that recently, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that criminals must fear the police uniform and it should not spare any criminal.
"Now is the time for the police to prove itself by taking stern action against those responsible for the incident," Mishra said.
Kaul urged people not to press Kashmiri students for rents for a while and also waive off their fees, after which saffron workers created a ruckus demanding that he take back his words.
The saffron workers also questioned why such statements were not issued by the Vice Chancellor when natural calamities hit Uttarakhand and Gujarat.
Soon after the melee, the Vice Chancellor felt uneasy and had to be admitted to a private hospital for treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable.
