Vasan for promoting sailing in Chennai Port Trust

Chennai Port Trust is considering the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association's request to allot it an area on a long-term basis at a concessional rent for sailing activities, Shipping Minister G K Vasan said here today.
"The matter is under active consideration of the Port management and would be decided upon at the earliest" he said, inaugurating the fifth Raymond India International Regatta 2013 here.
Vasan also urged the Chennai Port Trust management to incorporate sailing as a sport to be encouraged in the long term plans and take necessary steps to promote the sport.
Over 100 participants from nine countries are taking part in the regetta.
