The new trucks, including those specifically for Kerala roads, will met the needs of the emerging mid-premium market segment which demands vehicles of higher power and durablity, greater comfort and value added enhances featuers at economical cost, Shyam Maller, Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing), told reporters here.
The commercial vehicle segment in India was hopeful of better prospects with the new BJP government at the centre focussing on infrastructure and power, he said.
The domestic commercial vehicle segment had not been doing well since the past 24 months. However, in the last 6 months things were somewhat better.
Sales in the light and medium vehicles (5-14 tonnes) fell by 30 per cent, while in heavy duty trucks the degrowth was 2.9 per cent. The bus segment has also seen a degrwoth of 16 per cent.
Eicher has a strong dealer network presence across Kerala, which contributes close to 7 per cent of Eicjer All India Sales volumes with a market share of almost 17 per cent in Commercial vehicle segment.
