Vehicle escorting jail inmates hit by truck; 11 injured

The vehicle, in which five inmates of Agra district jail were being escorted by six policemen to a court hearing in Hathras, was hit by a truck near Chandpa area of Hathras, home department sources said.

The injured included sub-inspector Prem Narain, constable driver Indraj Kumar and four other constables besides all the five inmates.

They were rushed to district hospital.

The truck driver fled from the scene leaving his vehicle behind.
