The FIR against unidentified officials of the Transport Department and M/s ESP India Pvt Ltd was filed in the court of Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.

It says "undue favour" was shown to M/s ESP India by the Transport Department while granting it the contract to test the fitness of commercial vehicles.

The FIR has been filed on a complaint by RTI activist Vivek Garg against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, former transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and others alleging corruption in grant of contract to M/s ESP India Pvt Ltd. The complaint also named former Transport Commissioner R K Verma and M/s ESP India.

The ACB had, however, given a clean chit to Dikshit and Lovely saying the contract was awarded to ESP India without any tender and with approval of the Delhi Cabinet but "no irregularities" could be found on part of the Chief Minister and the former transport minister.

The FIR has been registered under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 120-B (conspiracy) of the IPC and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act for criminal misconduct by public servant. (More)
