A number of vehicles carrying illegally mined materials were today seized here as part of a crackdown by the police on the mining mafia across the state.
A mining vigilance unit led by DIG Sanjay Gunjyal raided the lease area at Dakpatthar barrage and impounded three tractors, seven dumpers and a car laden with illegally mined river bed material, police sources said.
The lease holder has been fined Rs 50 lakh for mining material beyond the permitted list of items to be mined from the river bed, they said.
