"We appeal people of Jammu and Kashmir, through media, to voluntarily remove black films from their vehicles by August 20, or their vehicles would be seized," said Inspector General (Traffic), J-K, Muneer Khan.
The step was taken after the J-K High Court pulled the state traffic police yesterday for its inability to implement the apex court order of removing the black films from vehicles.
The High Court had ordered the IG, Traffic, to issue notices in newspapers informing public to comply with Supreme Court directions by or before August 20.
After August 20 there should be no fine and the vehicles found violating directions be impounded, the court had directed.
Division Bench of J-K High Court, comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Masoodi, issued directions for impounding of vehicles found using the dark films after August 20.
Court further ordered that in case there is a violation by the government servants, the list of such vehicles be prepared and present it before the court.
