Vendor electrocuted to death in public toilet in East Delhi

A 40-year-old vegetable vendor was allegedly electrocuted to death inside a public toilet in East Delhi's Shakarpur area here, police said today.
The deceased was identified as Kishan Lal. He was a native of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh and lived near Shakarpur metro station area.
"The incident took place last evening when Kishan Lal had gone to the washroom near his kiosk in Shakarpur. As soon as he touched a metal railing in the toilet, he was electrocuted due to high tension current passing through it," said a senior police official, adding he collapsed on the ground
He was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where he was declared brought dead, he added.
Locals told police that current was detected in the railing since the last several days and complaints were made to the power distribution company.
A case under the relevant sections including causing death due to negligence has been registered at Shakarpur police station.
