Former India skipper and ex-chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar would head the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIA) of the Mumbai Cricket Association, according to MCA sources.
Vengsarkar, who played 116 Tests, will lead the five-member panel whose other members were yet to be decided, sources said after a meeting of its Managing Committee today.
The 59-year-old former cricketer had contested the MCA's elections held last week and was elected as one of the two Vice-Presidents.
Meanwhile, the Managing Committee also decided to revert one of its oldest tournaments - the Dr H D Kanga League - to its original dates - in the midst of monsoon instead of at the tail-end of the season as was the case over the last two years.
A lot of clubs expressed their unhappiness over the change in the tournament's format in the run-up to the elections when the two contesting groups held their pre- election campaign meetings with the voting club members.
