The district development board meeting in Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir today witnessed a verbal duel between the ruling National Conference Minister Mohammad Akbar Lone and opposition PDP legislators over some infrastructure issues raised by the latter.
The 'face-off' took place when PDP MLA Nizamuddin Bhat raised some development and infrastructure issues of the district during the meeting chaired by Congress minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir, official sources said.
They said Lone interrupted Bhat and asked him that the issues raised fell in the domain of the Assembly and he should raise it there.
Lone also ridiculed the PDP members for boycotting the Assembly during the budget session in March this year, the sources said.
The PDP members had boycotted the session over the "helplessness" expressed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the killing of a youth during protests over the hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru.
At this point, PDP MLC Naeem Akhtar intervened and urged Mir that the meeting should not be politicised, the sources said.

Later, Lone lost his cool and entered into a verbal brawl with the Akhtar. The duo reportedly used "unparliamentary" language against each other.
The PDP legislators present in the meeting refused to comment on the incident while Lone could not also be reached for his comments as well.
Lone, during his tenure as Speaker of the Assembly two years ago, lost his cool with PDP MLA Iftikhar Hussain Ansari in the Assembly and abused him.
