With Bagdogra recording 27.98 cm rainfall, Coochbehar 8.86 cm and Jalpaiguri 7.53 cm, extremely heavy rainfall was recorded at a few places over Alipurduar in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, according to the Met department.
The city received a rainfall of (3.8 mm) while Dum Dum in the North 24 Parganas district recorded (10.7 mm) and Diamond Harbour in the South 24 Parganas got 1.4 mm rainfall, the Met department said.
Light to heavy showers occurred in West Midnapore district and many places over Birbhum, East Midnapore, Nadia, Murshidabad, Purulia districts including at a few places over Bankura and Hooghly districts, it said.
"Southwest monsoon been vigorous over sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over Sikkim and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at these places.
"It is expected to rain at many places over East and West Midnapur, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Kolkata districts of Gangetic West Bengal," it said.
"For Kolkata, it is likely to be be cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperature of the city will likely be around 32 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively," it added.
