Eyeing India as a "promising market", wind power solutions provider Vestas today pledged more efforts to expand its footprint in the country, saying it will invest more.
"India is in our centre of focus as far as growth is concerned... When we talk about the Asia-Pacific, India is definitely coming as a top country where we will be putting more efforts and resources and all," Amar Variawa, Vestas Director, Marketing and Public Affairs, India and South East Asia, told reporters at a press meet here.
The company today opened its new office in the national capital.
"We will continue to have high ambition for our future endeavour in this transforming and promising market," Vestas President for Asia-Pacific Clive Turton said.
The company, which pumped in around 70 million euros in a blades manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad, stated that it invested heavily in the last three years in India as it strongly believes in the renewable energy sector.
"In 2015, we made a commitment to the prime minister that we would establish a blade manufacturing facility... and we completed that... We invested around 70 million euros and we generated about 1,000 jobs," Turton added.
The company, he said, will go for more investment in the country as its business grows.
Vestas has delivered more 4,500 turbines in India, representing a total capacity of more than 3,000 mw (in collaboration with RRB). As of today, Vestas employs more than 2,000 people in India.
