VHP today asked the state government to identify and deport all Bangladeshi and Burmese nationals settled in Jammu by March 31, 2017, failing which it warned that the people of the region would be forced to decide their fate.
"We call upon the state government to identify all Bangladeshi and Burmese nationals settled in Jammu and Kashmir on or before March 31, 2017 and to deport them from Jammu," state VHP President Leela Karan Sharma told reporters here.
"Failing which the people of Jammu will be forced to decide how all these people, who are changing the demography of the region, are thrown out and the responsibility will be on the state administration," he said.
On the objection raised by Hurriyat and the separatists to the issuance of domicile certificates to the West Pakistan refugees settled in the state since 1947, he said the state government should provide a permanent solution for their settlement, giving them full rights like other citizens.
He said Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India and every citizen had the right to settle anywhere in the country.
He claimed that the separatists had a problem with it even though the refugees were only being given domicile certificates, he said.
