A book by former Intelligence Bureau chief T V Rajeswar, devoted to a period from the liberation of Bangladesh to the emergency years, was released by Vice President Hamid Ansari.
"Rajeswar has been careful with words in different sentences and passages. He has given little hints here and there which would provide researchers with sufficient work to do.
"The book in essence is a gentle curtain raiser. It is not explicit, suggestive, not taken too may names. It is a very interesting read," Ansari said.
The book titled 'The Crucial Years' broadly gives an account of the emergency and other important events in Independent India's history.
In his memoir, Rajeswar tells the stories behind the headlines and makes startling disclosures as it paints a compelling portrait of India over the last half-century, said Harper Collins, the publisher.
In his review of book, the Vice President in particular referred to the sections devoted to the Samba spy scandal and cited interesting anecdotes during his time in the foreign service while talking about the role of state agents.
