Vicky Tyagi murder:Jail authorities seek permission to shift

Jail authorities today filed a petition in a local court to shift the accused in Vicky Tyagi murder case from here to another district prison, citing threat to his life.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Narendra Kumar has fixed February 21 as the next date of hearing.
The application to shift the accused Sagar Malik was filed by the Superintendent of District Jail Sevaram Choudhry.
"The Superintendent of Jail has filed application seeking shifting of accused Sagar Malik from Muzaffarnagar jail to another jail as there is danger to his life," said Nagesh Singh, District Jailer.
Minu Tyagi, wife of the deceased as well as other accused in the case are lodged in the jail, he said.
Jail authorities have already upped the security and Malik is being kept in high-security barrack.

On February 16, the accused Malik, who had entered the courtroom masquerading as a lawyer, mortally shot Tyagi multiple times, and was arrested from the spot that day.
Brijbir Singh, another accused in the case was arrested on February 17 and was remanded to judicial custody till March 2.
Tyagi was facing trial in the 2011 Barakali murder case in which 8 persons of a family were killed.
