Vidarbha win via VJD method

Vidarbha got the better off Madhya Pradesh by four wickets via the VJD method in a Central Zone leg match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, here today.
Madhya Pradesh were all out for a modest total of 193 in 48.2 overs and in reply, Vidarbha managed to reach the revised target of 164 in a rain-interrupted match.
Vidarbha were needed to score the required runs in 39 overs, but they could achieve it in 38th overs itself, losing six wickets in the process.
Despite skipper Jalaj Saxena's all-round performance -- 71 and 3/37 -- Madhya Pradesh failed to post a win.
Opting to bat, opener Saxena, who got retired hurt initially, came on to bat later and finished as the top-scorer for his side.
He hit a 96-ball 71, studded with four boundaries on a day when most of the other batsmen failed to fire. Anand Bais was the second highest scorer with a crucial 36.

For Vidarbha, Ravi Thakur was the pick of the bowlers with figures of four for 43.
Chasing a modest total, Vidarbha got off to a fine start with openers Faiz Fazal (27) and Jitesh Sharma (43) putting on 62 runs together.
But in the middle they lost five wickets for just 47 runs but the revised score after a rain break helped Vidarbha achieve the target rather comfortably in the end. Ravi Jangid contributed with a 34-ball 32.
For Madhya Pradesh, apart from Saxena, Ankit Sharma (3/38) also claimed three wickets.
