Viddyulata Pandit awarded Varde Puraskar

A prominent social worker and president of the Shramajivi Sanghatana, Viddyulata Pandit was awarded the 'Varde Puraskar' at a function here.
Pandit whose organisation has been working since more than 35 years in the field of tribal upliftment has so far rescued more than 200 bonded labourers from the tribal areas of the district.
The event that took place on Saturday evening saw speakers recollecting the struggle of Pandit during difficult times and her fight for the justice of the neglected and downtrodden.
The award was instituted in memory of the late Sadanand Varde, who was the former education minister of Maharashtra and brought in several reforms in the field of education.
In her speech after accepting the award Pandit paid tributes to Sane Guruji, the Varde couple whose work inspired her and support of her family members to do social work.
She donated the money to the school for girls being run in Usgaon by the Shramajivi Sanghatana.
