A bus ticket-checking inspector apparently flew into a rage and tried to kick an elderly male passenger when he said he does not have the ticket and that his wife was carrying it.
A video of the incident that happened at Gandhipuram here on Monday has since gone viral.
The reply from the passenger, in his 60s, infuriated the inspector so much that he allegedly abused the passenger and lifted his leg to kick the senior citizen, much to the shock of other passengers and the public.
The inspector with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation asked the passenger for the ticket. The man told the checker that he does not have it, but his wife was having it.
This angered the official who abused the passenger and raised his leg in an attempt to kick the senior citizen.
When a few mediapersons, who happened to be near the spot, questioned the ticket-checker for his behaviour, he screamed at them and left the scene.
The matter was then taken up with the senior officials of the bus corporation, but there was no reaction, the mediapersons said.
