RMB adoption improves in India
* In India, the usage of Renminbi for payments in value with China and Hong Kong is on the rise, but the country still shows one of the lowest RMB adoption rates among Asian countries, says a report.
In April 2016, 3.8 per cent of all payments made between India and China/Hong Kong were exchanged in RMB while this was only 0.2 per cent in April 2014.
Since 2014, the Chinese currency moved from number six to four for payments by value overtaking the Hong Kong dollar and the British pound.
DCB Bank launches DCB UPI mobile app
* DCB Bank today said it has launched an Unified Payment Interface (UPI) application to enhance banking experience for customers.
The DCB UPI app provides a convenient payment method for customers to send and receive funds anytime, anywhere, from the comfort of their Android smart phones, it said.
Murali Natrajan, MD & CEO, DCB Bank said: "In the coming months, UPI is likely to create a significant change in the way transactions are done, especially peer-to-peer transactions, known as P2P. A very important and powerful feature of UPI is the ability to send a 'collect' request, which did not exist in the industry."
