Gujrathi missed upon an excellent chance with white pieces, could not spot an immediate win in one move and instead ended up making a blunder to let Tari turn the tables immediately. The loss proved costly for Gujrathi (3.5 points) as he will now have to make a big comeback in the premier championship for players' under-20 years of age.
The Queen's Indian defense worked well for Gujrathi as he went for a principled continuation and got excellent attack against a centralised black king. Even as Tari was able to walk his king to safety, Gujrathi came with a fine exchange sacrifice that increased the pressure and the Indian was doing pretty well till disaster struck.
