Vietnam's Communist Party Gen Sec to visit India

Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will pay a four-day state visit to India beginning November 19 during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders.
The Prime Minister will hold wide-ranging talks with the General Secretary on the India-Vietnam strategic partnership and host a banquet in his honour, officials said.
He will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meera Kumar, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
The Vietnamese leader will also visit Mumbai where he will meet the business community at an event organised by FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
Relations between India and Vietnam have grown steadily in recent times.
In the last couple of years, both the countries have increased their collaboration in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors.
Notwithsatnding China's growing assertiveness over the South China Sea, Vietnam has been maintaining that India has the right to pursue oil exploration in the area.
