Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to visit China

Phuc will also attend the 13th China-ASEAN Expo to be held from September 11 to 14 in the southern city of Nanning

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will pay an official visit to China from September 10 to 15, it was announced here today.

His visit to Beijing comes close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Hanoi where the two countries reached 12 agreements to boost ties including in the defence sector.

During Phuc's visit, Chinese leaders will hold talks with him, exchanging views on bilateral ties and issues of common concern, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying told a media briefing.

"At present China-Vietnam relations are sound," Hua said.

Phuc will also attend the 13th China-ASEAN Expo to be held from September 11 to 14 in the southern city of Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

"We hope Phuc's visit will enhance bilateral strategic communication, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and bring real benefits to the people of two countries," Hua said.

China and Vietnam has tenuous ties as the two countries have counter claims over the resource-rich South China Sea.
