Vigilance nabs two engineers accepting Rs 80,000 as bribe

The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) sleuths Friday arrested an assistant and a junior engineer of Rural Works Department on graft charges in Bihar's Patna district, a Vigilance release said.

The sleuths caught Assistant Engineer Gore Lal Paswan, and Junior Engineer Nawab Lal red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 in cash for preparing the measurement book.

The Measurement book is a notebook used by any department or agency of construction site, to record the work done by the contractor with all the direction, dimension and quantity with date of execution of work.

One Manoj Kumar Singh had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Bureau that the accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 80,000 for preparing the measurement book.

The allegations were found to be correct during the verification carried out by the Bureau, the release said.

The two engineers posted in Rural Works Departmet's Paliganj work division were red-handed while accepting the cash from the premises of circle office of Superintending Engineer located on Hardinge road in the state capital.

The two accused would be produced before the special vigilance court Saturday.
