The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today directed vice-chairman of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to take immediate action against the encroachers of land worth crores of rupees on the outskirts of Jammu city.
Mubarak Singh, vice-chairman, JDA, was also directed to take departmental and legal actions against those involved in various omissions and commissions resulting in huge loss to government Exchequer, SVC Spokesman said.
The Vigilance took serious note of encroachments made on (nearly 100 kanals of land in Keran-Bantalab belt of Jammu) and JDA's irresponsible approach towards land retrieving amounting to huge loss to the state exchequer, the spokesman said.
Taking a note of encroachments made over state land at Bantalab Jammu by some persons allegedly in connivance with JDA and Revenue Department officials, the Commission directed Singh to initiate immediate action against the culprits.
The anti-graft panel took cognizance over a complaint lodged by the inhabitants of village Keran, Bantalab through their sarpanch in connection withencroachments in the village.
The report submitted by JDA shows that the responsible officers and officials, instead of accepting their inability to save the land, had shifted the onus on the shoulders of the Revenue Department, the spokesman said.
The land has beengrabbed by private individuals including land mafias who have not only managed to get illegal possession but have also raised huge commercial establishments thereon, he said.
