Vigilance raid finds over Rs 1 crore asset of forest officer

Vigilance sleuths today raided several properties of Forest Range Officer, posted here, following allegation that he possesses of assets disproportionate to his income.
Movable and immovable assets worth Rs 1,21,14,905 have been detected during search by this evening.
The raids were conducted at Prasanna Kumar Mishra's residential houses at Hilpatna in Bhawanipatna, native house at Pariagaon village under Junagarh police station, father-in-law's house at Irrigation Colony here, and his office chamber here.
The properties were searched simultaneously by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division, on the strength of search warrant issued by Court, an official statement said.
Vigilance DSP Ananta kumar Majhi said compilation of Bank details and lockers is also in progress. Besides working as ranger of Bhawanipatna ranger, Mishra is also in charge of K.Gaon range.
Prasanna Kumar Mishra had joined as Village Forest Worker in 1989. He was promoted to the rank of Forest Range Officer in 1998 and posted at Bhawanipatna and K. Gaon in Kalahandi district. He is still continuing as Forest Range Officer at Bhawanipatna, the statement said.
