Vigilance sleuths detect govt officer's property worth over Rs

Vigilance sleuths today detected properties worth Rs 99.40 lakh in the name of Ramesh Chandra Swain, a Deputy Superintendent in the office of the managing director of Odisha State Warehousing Corporation, Bhubaneswar.
On the allegation of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets by Swain, vigilance sleuths searched his two two-storied house at Laxmisagar Uppersahi and his four-storied building in the same locality here.
His office was also simultaneously searched, a vigilance spokesman said.
During search, the movable and immovable assets are detected in possession of Swain in his name and in the name of his family members.
They included two two-storied buildings, one four storied building, six plots at Laxmisagar area in the capital city, one motorcycle, and deposits in banks, LIC, SBI Life Insurance, Bajaj Allinz, ICICI Prudential Policy to tune of Rs 3,15,156.
"The total asset of Ramesh Chandra Swain has been calculated to Rs 99,40,012 so far," a senior officer engaged in the search operation said.
The vigilance officials said one four-storied building worth of Rs 85 lakh was found in the name of his son-in-law. This building is suspected to have been financed by Swain.
Swain joined government service as a junior assistant in the Odisha State Warehouse Corporation, Bhubaneswar on January 21, 1985. He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent in the year 1997 and was posted at Berhampur. He is continuing as Deputy Superintendent in the office of M.D, Odisha State Ware house Corporation, Bhubaneswar since 1998.
