Vigilance sleuths unearth Rs 61.67 lakh property of a clerk

Anti-corruption vigilance sleuths today unearthed properties worth Rs 61.67 lakh owned by a head clerk working in Public Health Department.
The clerk is employed at Chhatrapur division and the properties were detected during a raid on his houses and office at Berhampur and Chhatrapur, vigilance sources said.
The properties included a flat in an apartment at Ayodhya Nagara of Rs 25 lakh) and a three-storied building of Rs 20 lakh) at Krushan Nagara here, besides Rs 6.20 lakh deposits in different banks.
Gold and silver oraments of Rs 4.90 lakh, household articles of Rs 2.70 lakh, investment in LIC of Rs 1.64 lakh, two motorcycles (Rs 83,000 and cash around Rs 39,700 were also unearthed, the sources said.
"After detecting his total properties we are now calculating the ill-gotten ones," said vigilance SP (Berhampur) Manoranjan Panda.
The man had begun his career as a junior clerk in the state government in 1987. His wife had started as an anganwadi worker in 1999 and is now a child development programme officer, the sources said.
