YSR Congress honorary president Y Vijayamma accused Andhra Pradesh government of being complacent in assisting people ravaged by rains and flood.
She told reporters here today that the government had failed to provide relief even after a week of devastation.
"Flood affected people are anxiously looking forward for much needed relief, but officials never bothered to visit them and mitigate their sufferings. The situation is very bad in all coastal districts," she said.
Despite the Chief Minister giving instructions, officials cared very little and relief did not reach affected people, she said, adding standing crops have been badly damaged.
On the situation in East Godavari district, she said that since paddy in 1.50 lakh acres and commercial crops in 50,000 acres have been badly damaged, the government should come to farmers' rescue by waiving their loans.
"As many as 3,000 houses were damaged either fully or partially. It is the government's duty to extend immediate financial assistance to the people," she said.
Vijayamma said the YSR Congress Party would submit a detailed report to the Prime Minister and the President of India, about the plight of flood affected people and seek release of adequate assistance.
