Delhi Assembly's Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta has complained to Lt Governor Anil Baijal regarding "non allocation" of funds by the AAP government to BJP-ruled municipal corporations in the national capital for urban development and transport.
In a letter to the L-G, Gupta alleged that the Kejriwal government was "crippling" the municipal corporations financially due to political reasons.
"The Kejriwal government has not allocated funds to the three municipal corporations in financial year 2018-19, for urban development and transport, thereby financially crippling them," the BJP leader alleged.
He requested the Lt Governor to direct the Kejriwal government to reallocate funds to the municipal bodies so that they can provide civic services to the people of Delhi.
"The AAP government is using the budget as a weapon to seek revenge from BJP-ruled municipal corporations, after defeat of its party in the civic body elections last year," Gupta alleged.
The municipal corporations of East, North and South Delhi were allocated a total of Rs 1,154 for urban development in the 2017-18 budget, but no money was alocated to them for the purpose in this budget, he claimed, adding the municipal corporations will not be able to take up any developmental works due to this.
