Viligance raids at Odisha EIC's office, residence

The anti-corruption vigilance department today detected properties worth Rs 2.84 crore in posession of an Engineering-in-Chief besides a locker, official sources said.
The vigilance department sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on the office, house in the state capital and native village of the accused Sukedev Meher.
"The raids were conducted on Meher's properties on the strength of Search warrant issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar," an official release said.
The anti-corruption wing of the state government registred a case against Meher on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets.
Meher, a native of Nuapada village under Tusara police station in Balangir district, was presently working as Engineer-in-Chief, Civil, Nirman Soudha, Bhubaneswar.
During the search it was found that Meher had allegedly acquired the movable and immovable assets during his tenure as public servant, it said adding that the Engineer-in-Chief's one locker was yet to be opened.
Meher was not available for comment.
