Village head arrested for murdering wife, burying body in well

A village head was today arrested by police for allegedly murdering his wife and later burying the body in a 40-feet deep dry borewell in Mohanlalganj area here.
Manjulata, aged about 32 years, wife of Pursani village head RS Rawat, was missing since Jun 17. A day after she went missing, her husband lodged an FIR at Mohanlalganj police station in this regard, police said.
During the investigation, the woman's brother' raised doubt over her husband. Thereafter, police detained Rawat's driver Ram Saran, who narrated the whole story during interrogation.
The driver said the woman was murdered by her husband and he, Karan Bajpai and another person assisted him in the crime. They later buried the body in the 40-feet deep dry borewell and levelled the soil using a bulldozer.

The body was exhumed today from the borewell, Additional Superintendent of Police, Saumitra Yadav said, adding that Rawat, his driver and Karan have been arrested while one person was still at large, said.
