Village head shot dead, villagers lynch one of the accused

A village head was allegedly shot dead by three motorcycle-borne assailants of which one was lynched by the villagers in Kumhol village under Kishni police station area here today.
Ashok Shakya, Kumhol village head, was standing at the door of his house when three men shot him dead.
On hearing the gun shots, the villagers chased the assailants and caught hold of one of them and beat him to death. The identity of the dead assailant was not immediately known.
The murder appears to be a fall out of Gram Panchayat elections, Superintendent of Police ShriKant said, adding that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
