Village revenue official caught red-handed accepting bribes

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a revenue official (talathi) of Saja Bokate village in Yeola taluka of Nashik district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000, according to official sources.
The bribe was accepted for forwarding a complainant's application to a tehsildar to get compensation under the Maharashtra government's Aam Aadmi Insurance scheme, after his son died in an accident in 2013, an ACB press release said.
The accused talathi Datta Kadu Gote allegedly demanded Rs 2,000 from the complainant for the purpose, but matter was "settled" at Rs 1,000.
The complainant informed the ACB, which laid a trap and caught Gote red-handed while accepting the bribe at a temple today afternoon, the ACB release said.
