Villagers ransack police station after murder

Angry villagers today ransacked Sitamarhi police station in Nawada district of Bihar after one person was allegedly beaten to death by a group of persons.
Nawada Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandrika Prasad said, "The villagers got angry after Mithu Chauhan (25) was lynched by a group of people at Yadav Tola."
"The reasons behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, but the villagers attacked Sitamarhi police station and set ablaze several vehicles stationed inside its campus," the SP said.
"The mob then ransacked the police station and burnt documents kept inside. The personnel posted there fled to escape the wrath of the people," Prasad said.
Police officers said two jeeps and six motorcycles were burnt by the mob.
Meanwhile, the police have taken the body in their custody and sent it for postmortem. Investigations have been launched into the case, as well as, the attack on the police station, the police said.
