Villagers take policemen captive in Bulandshahr

Policemen, who had gone to raid a house of a person accused of harassing his wife for dowry, were taken captive and attacked by the accused and his relatives in village Dabkora in Jahangirabad area here, an official said today.
The cops were freed after arrival of police reinforcement.
According to District Superintendent of Police (rural) Vijay Gautam, a person named Umesh had lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter Geeta, who was married to Sonu of village Dabkora an year ago, was being harassed by her husband for dowry and was held captive by him.
A police team led by a sub inspector raided the house of Sonu to get Geeta released last night, but were attacked with stones by accused and his relatives and held captive, he said.
Three persons have been arrested and a total of 13 persons, including accused Sonu, have been named in the FIR lodged by police.
